Trugreen Cannabis (“Trugreen,” “we,” “us”) respects the privacy of our Comox Valley community. Unlike many retailers, we prioritize Data Sovereignty. Our WordPress website and its associated data are hosted on Canadian servers through FullHost. This ensures your personal information remains under the protection of Canadian privacy laws and is not stored on foreign servers.

2. Information We Collect

We only collect the minimum information necessary to provide our services:

  • Age Verification: Our age gate may request your Date of Birth (DOB). We do not store this data. It is used solely to generate a temporary session cookie to grant access to the site.
  • Marketing & VIP Lists: If you voluntarily opt-in to our newsletter or SMS alerts, we collect your email address and/or phone number. In line with BC Privacy Commissioner recommendations, we avoid collecting full names for marketing lists whenever possible to minimize your “data footprint.”
  • Event Inquiries: For “Cub Spot” or “Cub Space” bookings, we collect contact information and event details necessary to fulfill the contract.
  • Technical Data: Like most websites, we collect anonymized data such as IP addresses and browser types to improve site performance and security.

3. Purpose of Collection

We use your information strictly for:

  • Complying with Health Canada and BC LCRB age-verification requirements.
  • Sending requested updates on “fresh drops,” wellness resources, and community events.
  • Managing bookings for our community spaces.
  • Preventing fraudulent activity or unauthorized access to our digital infrastructure.

4. Third-Party Service Providers

We do not sell or trade your personal information. To provide a seamless experience, we share data with the following Canadian-compliant partners:

  • Blaze/Greenline: When you transition to our “Shop” menu, your transaction data is handled by our POS provider.
  • FullHost: Our Canadian infrastructure provider.

5. Data Retention & Security

  • Security Arrangements: We employ industry-standard SSL encryption and firewalls. Our hosting environment is monitored 24/7 for security vulnerabilities.
  • Limited Retention: We only keep your information as long as necessary to fulfill the purpose for which it was collected (e.g., as long as you are subscribed to our VIP list). Once it is no longer needed, it is securely deleted or anonymized.

6. Your Rights (Access & Correction)

Under BC’s PIPA, you have the right to:

  • Request access to the personal information we hold about you.
  • Request the correction of any inaccuracies.
